Attendance to payroll

Payroll is worked out from a paper attendance book. Three people signed in for colleagues who were not there. Attendance is recorded per person and feeds payroll directly, so pay follows the days actually worked.

Leave balances

A staff member is certain they have leave left. HR’s spreadsheet says otherwise. Neither can prove it. Leave is requested, approved and deducted in one place. The balance is the same wherever anyone looks.

Leavers lose access

A cashier resigned last month. Their login still opens the till, and nobody thought to switch it off. When a resignation or termination takes effect, the person’s access is switched off automatically.

Queries on record

A query was issued by word of mouth. Months later there is no record that it was asked or how it was answered. Queries are issued and answered in the system, with email notices, and stay on the employee’s file.
